Frequently Asked Questions

What about medication vs. psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy has proven to be as efficacious as medications. It can never be addictive, and the techniques learnt during the therapy sessions, could be used by the patients long after the therapy ends. We, at Your Ananda, provide psychotherapy and counseling services only. If in the course of the counseling/therapy, the therapist deems that you require medication or you have a condition that requires further serious treatment we will refer you to an eligible psychiatrist/professional who is eligible to prescribe you medication.

How can therapy help me?

Counseling lets you talk about your thoughts, feelings, and behaviours without being judged or stigmatized. Counselor can help you recognise symptoms and underlying causes of your problems and further prepare you to cope with it in healthy ways. Using relaxation techniques and teaching you skills that will help not get affected by the negativity of the situations/problems, in turn, will help understand yourself and improve your mental wellness.

How long will my treatment go on for?

Each session is about 45 mins. Depending on the intensity of your problem and the amount of work it requires, the counselor will suggest the number of sessions. You can choose to pay as per session or select from any package suitable to you. The number of sessions will also be determined by your personal willingness and active engagement in the sessions to work through the issue.

How do I know if the treatment will be beneficial?

There are no guarantees with psychotherapy or psychiatry. We work in this field because we have seen people achieve tremendous gains form this kind of work. That doesn't mean that we can guarantee that every person will be helped, but if what you need is something that we can help with then we will use the best available treatments to do our utmost to help.

How do I end therapy?

Once you and your counselor, establish, in your sessions, that you no longer would be needing the support of the therapy, the counselor will help you with the weaning off process of the sessions. However, you can choose to keep your account with us, in case you ever decide to seek help again or go through the counselor's notes maintained in your dashboard.

Will I have to reveal my identity? How much information do I have give out on myself?

The information you provide on our platform is completely confidential & safe. Whatever you share on this website is safe between you and your therapist and does not go beyond the session window. Our website will not share your data with any other 3rd party unless consent given by you.

How do I pay for the session?

A session with your counselor will only be confirmed once you have made the payment. You can make the payment online using our payment gateway. You will be led to it once you have blocked a slot with your counselor or upon the selection of the packages.

How do I extend a session?

Usually, there would be no need to extend a session, as 45 mins is an ideal time for both therapists and clients. Therapy is emotionally intense and one can gather a lot of information in a session, keeping a session longer will only mentally and emotionally drain one out. If you still need to extend a session you will have to book another 45 mins session with your counselor.

What is the frequency of the sessions?

The sessions happen once a week, this is so that there’s enough time to process and remember the information from the session, and enough time to work on any homework given by the therapist. The time after the session enables the client to get the information discussed in the session together at their own pace. Any longer in duration between sessions runs the risk of continuity problems, that is difficulty in remembering the contents of the session, slightly upsetting the flow of conversation and therapy; and affecting the relationship built.

How do I choose my therapist?

There are three ways you can choose a therapist/counselor:

1. You can select the issue you are facing and then accordingly choose from the list of the therapists offering services for those issues.

2. One can directly go to the 'therapists' section, see through all the profiles and choose the best option you consider for yourself.

3. If you are unable to decide, you can always ask us at the chat window and we will help you by suggesting one based on your availability and comfort.

How can I change my therapist, if the need be?

You can change your therapist if need be but it’s advisable not to do so, for you would lose out on possible gains, flow, and ease achieved. But if you still want to go ahead and change the professional write to us on info@yourananda.com and, we will review the mail and reply to you with the best possible alternatives within 48 hours.
